TOULOUSE
The result of an exceptional partnership between the Spanish Ministry of Culture, the Fundación Museo Sorolla and the Museo Sorolla, the exhibition presents a selection of 60 of the most emblematic paintings in his style, ranging from beach scenes, family portraits and portraits of his contemporaries to the gardens that fuelled the painter’s later years. The aim of this exhibition is to introduce you to the unique world of this undisputed master of light.
Nicknamed “the painter of light”, Joaquín Sorolla is one of the great figures in Spanish art history and one of its best-known painters. Born in Valencia, Sorolla grew up and trained in the special light of the Mediterranean, which he mastered masterfully and which characterises all his work.
