Founded in 2014 on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, the Sunshine Coast Guitar Orchestra (SCGO), under the direction of award-winning guitarist and composer Andrew Veivers, has established itself as an ensemble where music becomes a genuine space for connection and sharing. Open to all, from beginner guitarists to the most experienced musicians, the orchestra celebrates the richness of diversity and enables everyone to find their place within the group. Its repertoire, developed in collaboration with the members and tailored to their abilities, encompasses a remarkable variety of styles, from world music to 1950s and 1960s surf music, and from classical pieces to pop and film scores. Through eclectic programmes and warm, welcoming concerts, the SCGO celebrates much more than just the guitar: it makes music a universal language, capable of bringing together generations, cultures and life experiences around a shared passion.
