A Century and a Half of Costumes Found in a Shed
It all began with a discovery. In the 2000s, Jacques Vié, a tailor and shopkeeper well known to the residents of Sète, opened the storage room of the family shop, which had been in business since 1893. There he found jousting costumes that had been piled up there for decades, including one dating back to 1893. A lengthy process of dating followed, piece by piece, based on photographs and, for periods prior to the advent of photography, on hand-drawn sketches.
The exhibition presents the results of this work at the Musée de la Mer, with free admission.
