TOULOUSE
For three decades now, the Toulouse les Orgues International Festival has been celebrating a rich, varied and precious heritage, showcasing it across France and attracting organists from all over the world thanks to its exceptional collection of instruments. For around ten days, the Festival transforms Toulouse into the centre of the organ-loving world!
The Festival is constantly evolving and reinventing itself: bringing enthusiasts together whilst attracting new audiences, and building bridges between the centuries-old repertoire of an instrument that appears static, almost sacrosanct, and contemporary, even experimental, music. The organ is undeniably an instrument for sonic experimentation, a synthesiser before its time, and a vehicle for conveying emotion.
A twelve-day journey through classical, Baroque, symphonic, Occitan, meditative and modern aesthetics and styles, bringing together organists with other musicians and featuring a mix of established stars and promising up-and-coming artists.
A programme conceived and tailor-made down to the very last detail, with one aim: to make the magnificent vaults housing the organs resonate in October, just as much as the hearts of festival-goers!
