TOULOUSE
Jokes and a light-hearted attitude may well have always shaped their father-daughter relationship, but that doesn’t stop them from tackling existential issues. Among these is the artist’s deep-seated fear of losing her father. A theme that Stéphanie Aflalo draws upon as much from her philosophical references as from her own connection to the theatre, at the heart of a minimalist production that plays on the contrast between form and content. Responding, via a simple flat-screen TV, to her father’s videos recorded on a camcorder, the artist shares this filial intimacy with modesty and self-mockery. Faced with this inevitability that affects us all, *Tout doit disparaître* is a futile yet stubborn attempt to come to terms with the impossible.
