TOULOUSE
As part of its Un chef-d’œuvre pour Noël programme, the Fondation Bemberg is proud to present the Portrait de Madame de La Laurencie et de ses enfants by Maurice Denis, the “Nabi aux belles icônes” in the Salle Gorges-Bemberg.
Created in 1904 on commission from Jean de La Laurencie, this Musée d’Orsay masterpiece, on temporary loan, illustrates the painter’s “New Classicism”, combining refinement, balance and Renaissance inspiration.
The Portrait of Madame de La Laurencie and her children will be presented in a variety of ways to help visitors better understand the work. In this way, the Fondation Bemberg is offering visitors a chance to discover the work of a major artist who moved from the Nabi movement to a modern reinterpretation of religious tradition, leaving a lasting mark on the history of art.
