SAINT-FELIX-LAURAGAIS
Francis Poulenc (1899-1963) was a genius composer and a seasoned pianist, whose singular expressive verve made him a master of musical styles as diverse as chanson, opera, chamber music and sacred music. As a member of the Groupe des Six, he rubbed shoulders with everything original and avant-garde that his time produced: Jean Cocteau, Erik Satie, Guillaume Apollinaire…
The first part of this two-part evening will feature the light, lively melodies of this unique composer, followed in the second part by the one-act lyric tragedy ‘La Voix Humaine’, based on the play of the same name by Jean Cocteau, a seemingly banal scene from the life of a lover which, behind the unspoken words and silences, hides the story of a painful break-up that just won’t go away.
With Cécile de Boever, soprano, and Fabrice Boulanger, piano.
