The title of this concert is borrowed from a major exhibition held at the Centre Pompidou in the 1980s.
More than a century ago in Vienna, at the turn of the 20th century, a handful of musicians influenced by the Romantic and post-Romantic heritage were to bring about a fundamental aesthetic and theoretical evolution in barely a decade by abandoning tonality. This evolution became one of the foundations of 20th-century musical modernity.
