Following the success of the exhibition ‘Agde: Photographers of Yesterday, Perspectives of Today’, the Municipal Archives (AMA) is delighted to invite you to a guided tour of the exhibition.
How can we capture the passage of time as landscapes evolve, the town transforms and even its inhabitants change?
The Municipal Archives invite you on a journey through time in Agde, bringing photographs from the past back to life and re-photographing, in 2026, the exact viewpoints that photographers had captured at different periods.
This exhibition also provides an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the pioneers of photography – those who, in the 19th century, decided to embrace this new form of artistic expression. Settling here from the 1860s onwards, they helped to preserve the memory of Agde and its inhabitants. Whether photographs of anonymous people or unchanging landscapes, they tell, in their own way, the story of our beautiful town, its neighbourhoods and its residents.

*To ensure optimal preservation, the original documents on display for two months in the Salle du Chapitre will be returned to their storage boxes in the AMA’s archives.
