CAPESTANG
Come and discover the former summer residence of the Archbishops of Narbonne. In the late Middle Ages, it was a splendid residence that some would even describe as a palace.
Alas, the château has suffered the ravages of time, but fortunately the most prestigious part of the dwelling is still there to bear witness to its former splendor.
On the 1st floor of a vast rectangular tower, crowned on the south by machicolations on arches and buttresses, is a magnificent ceremonial room. On the ceiling, you can see a number of scenes from the period: animals, gallant and religious scenes.
The ensemble is remarkable for its remarkable preservation and the extreme diversity of its themes.
If the artists are unknown to us, a great master has certainly been there!
