For this 17th edition, the Department and the NEUFNEUF Festival are continuing their support for the Compagnie Trente Printemps, which began in 2025, by presenting the premiere of VORTEX.
A geometric, symbolic and universal figure, the circle allows for multiple narratives whilst preserving its potential for abstraction. Thus, whilst the trajectory followed by this ‘satellite-body’ may respond as much to the gravitational pull of a black hole as to a human being’s desire for emancipation, Vortex is nonetheless a piece that employs techniques of repetition and transformation of movement to explore the relationships between the body, space and time. Sound and light form part of this exploration and contribute to the piece’s dramaturgy.
Thus, through a rotating body, an elliptical choreography and an immersive world of sound and light, *Vortex* invites the audience on a journey – that of a body adrift, where the experience of gravity and the sensation of weightlessness coexist.
