TOULOUSE
Synopsis:
One of the biggest hits in the history of Japanese cinema. When animation meets emotion. A young girl bored in the countryside finds herself waking up, from time to time, in the body of a young city boy living the life she has always dreamed of. A body swap between a girl and a boy (a recurring motif in Japanese culture) leads to a deeply moving exchange of perspectives. A work as complex as it is ambitious, constantly playing on the contrasts between city and countryside, feminine and masculine, modernity and tradition, and, of course, past and present.
Makoto Shinkai, 2016. Japan. 107 mins. Colour. DCP. Original version with French subtitles
