TOULOUSE
Thirty years on from ‘1Voix 10Doigts’, Claude Nougaro’s legendary album recorded as a duet with Maurice Vander, here is ‘Une Voix, Six Cordes’ by Yvan Cujious and Louis Winsberg. Drawing on a repertoire rarely arranged or performed on the guitar, it took the immense talent of Louis Winsberg and the precise, delicate voice of Yvan Cujious to bring this masterful repertoire to life in a unique and fresh way, in which ‘Spain makes its presence felt a little’.
In this high-calibre concert-show, blending virtuoso performances with original texts, stand-up comedy and a jazz concert, we weep, we sing, we laugh, and then we shiver when an ‘Armstrong-esque’ trumpet bridges the gap between the Mississippi and the Garonne.
To mark the 20th anniversary of Claude Nougaro’s death, Yvan Cujious and Louis Winsberg have decided to pay tribute to him with an album, ‘Une voix, six cordes – From Claude to Nougaro’, which reimagines Claude’s incredible repertoire – usually heard on the piano – through guitar and vocals.
