TOULOUSE
Zingabe draws its inspiration from that explosive blend of funk, soul, jazz and
Afro-Cuban music pioneered by Fela Kuti. Also influenced by the
Brooklyn-based band Antibalas, this 11-piece collective performs its
original compositions in a raucous and joyful celebration of Afrobeat. Twenty years after
its formation, the band is hitting the road again, notably with a
new lead singer, providing the project with an opportunity to revamp its repertoire around
new lyrics. The band, founded in 2005, has performed at various venues
(the Glazart in Paris, the Havana in Toulouse, the Radio France Festival in Montpellier, and the
Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland).
