LOUPIAN
This site museum is one of the rare French examples of a Gallo-Roman villa presented “in situ”. The history of the agricultural estate and how it operated is presented in two rooms containing archaeological exhibits and models. You then move into another building, where you can see the protected archaeological site and the polychrome mosaics decorating the 5th century residence. The site is typical of the large “villae” (agricultural estates) that covered the countryside during the time of the Roman empire. Possible additional visit: the ancient centre of the village of Loupian.
